My name is April Cagle. I have a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lee University. I am Doctoral Candidate in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at Trevecca Nazarene University. I am currently working on my dissertation regarding the impact that perceived partner responsiveness has on female sexual desire and sexual satisfaction.
I am passionate about helping my clients navigate through the life challenges that they face. I have 8 years of clinical experience in the private practice setting as both a clinician and business owner. I have full licensure from the state of Tennessee, and the state of South Carolina. I offer virtual sessions to all residents of South Carolina and Tennessee. In person sessions are available to residents in the Charleston, South Carolina area.
I am equally passionate about the education and training of future clinicians which led me to pursue my doctoral degree in counselor education.
The couple subsystem is the very foundation to which the family system is built upon. If this foundation is weak or unstable, the family will fall apart. I believe that in order for a family to thrive, the couple must have a strong and healthy relationship. Couples work has the ability to impact other areas of therapy such as family work and work with children. The function or dysfunction of the family system is directly related to the functionality of the couple. The couple's relationship and communication style, effects their resilience or ability to work through or withstand crisis.
Couple relationship issues are my passion. I specialize in relationship matters such as trust, intimacy, communication, and infidelity. I am equally passionate about working with individuals on issues such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and boundaries, because each of these can directly impact overall relationship satisfaction.
I have presented nationally on the topic of "Nurturing Attunement in Couples Suffering from Infidelity." I practice from an Interpersonal and Family Systems perspective. I approach each client with a keenness to understand their life story, family history, communication patterns and how these aspects shape self-perception and current problems.
